Many of our supporters have been in contact to ask whether we have been able to assist efforts to evacuate the staff and families involved with Afghanistan based animal welfare charity NOWZAD.

Over the last few days as the devastating situation has unfolded in Afghanistan, the Conservative Animal Welfare Foundation has been in dialogue with government officials to support evacuation efforts of the charity.

We first became aware that NOWZAD’s staff, along with their families, were trapped in Kabul on Saturday 14th August. From that time, we have been working with our Patrons, MPs, senior government ministers and staff for the safety of all involved.

As many have observed, there have been a number of heated and public exchanges in recent days. It is our hope that the focus will now shift towards ensuring these individuals can reach the airport and be transported to safety as soon as possible.

Finally, we would like to thank ministers for their tireless work around the clock as they seek to ensure as many individuals and families as possible are able to safely exit the country. In this tragic situation every minute counts, and we will continue supporting the Government in any and every way we can.
