Henry Smith MP has been appointed a Patron of the Conservative Animal Welfare Foundation. The campaign is calling for an end to long distance live animal exports.

Henry Smith MP has been appointed a Patron of the Conservative Animal Welfare Foundation. The campaign is calling for an end to long distance live animal exports, an end to cages for hens and farrowing crates for pigs, the introduction of method of production labelling on meat and dairy so consumers can make an informed choice and the introduction of CCTV in all slaughterhouses. The Conservative Animal Welfare Foundation also supports the British Veterinary Association’s position on non stun slaughter.

Commenting on Henry Smith as the new Patron, Lorraine Platt, Co-Founder of the Conservative Animal Welfare Foundation said:
“We are delighted and honoured that Henry is joining us as our Patron along with Sir Roger and Lady Suzy Gale. Henry is the Co- Chairman of the All Party Group For Animal Welfare  in the House of Commons and has led a number of important debates on animal welfare including the need for CCTV in all slaughterhouses which is one of our key objectives.
Henry has hosted many animal welfare events in the Commons and we look forward to working together to help advance farm animal welfare.”
