Conservative Animal Welfare Foundation welcomes Westminster Hall Debate on finding time to return the Kept Animals Bill to Parliament

The Conservative Animal Welfare Foundation (CAWF) has welcomed the Westminster Hall Debate led by Conservative MP Elliot Colburn yesterday relating to the petition titled: ‘Find the time to take the Kept Animals Bill through Parliament and make it law’ which received over 107,000 signatures from the UK public.

Conservative Animal Welfare Foundation launches new campaign to end pig farrowing crates: The Crate Escape

Today (Monday 14th November), the Conservative Animal Welfare Foundation (CAWF) has launched a new campaign to end the use of farrowing crates in the UK. The campaign, titled The Crate Escape, will urge the Government to launch a consultation on ending the use of farrowing crates and raise awareness of the suffering sows endure as they are forced to spend much of their lives behind bars.

Veterinary Record: ‘The UK must ban farrowing crates’

Dr. Steven McCulloch, head of research at the Conservative Animal Welfare Foundation, argues that the UK should ban the use of farrowing crates for pigs and the veterinary profession must provide its full support. Dr. Steven McCulloch is Senior Lecturer in Human-Animal Studies at the Centre for Animal Welfare, University of Winchester. Steven qualified as a veterinary surgeon from Bristol University.
